
ANOTHER ACHIEVEMENT IN EUROPE
Customs Modernization Project has become finalist among 357
projects applied for
eEurope awards for eGovernment 2003 organized by the European Commission.
The eGovernment Awards for the solutions regarding "Good
Practices in Improving Public eServices and Transforming Government" were
presented at the High-Level European eGovernment Conference jointly organized by
Italian Presidency and the European Commission at the Villa Erba, Como (I) on
7-8 July 2003. eCustoms Project was selected as one of 65 "best practices of
public administrations in Europe" exhibited at stands at this event .
The Conference at which Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi made
an inauguration speech was attended by a Turkish Delegation headed by State
Minister Abd�llatif �ener, comprised of representatives of public
administrations and NGOs and professionals from private sector.
Customs Modernization Project was among totally 22 projects
for eGovernment model pre-selected to hold demonstration at the eGovernment
Exhibition. Germany, with Bremen On-line Services was announced as award winner
of Theme 1 ("the role of eGovernment in European competitiveness") at which
Customs Modernization Project also competed for the award. Germany was selected
as the best of the e-Government models with Bremen Municipality Portal.
