GÜVAS (Customs Data Warehouse System) is a system which enables all information on import, export, transit and cases of smuggling taking place in all customs offices throughout Turkey to be stored in a database established within the Customs Headquarters and to be transferred to decision-makers efficiently and effectively under the GİMOP project. 

It enables managers to make multi-dimensional analyses by compiling and evaluating data required for taking administrative decisions , making General and Local Risk Analysis and conducting the Prosecution of Cases of Smuggling. 

National network infrastructure of GÜVAS comprises of a “Frame Relay” backbone, extensions of which are located in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir. This backbone presents many different methods according to network efficiency as well as security and performance (e.g. using X.25 or leased-lines alternatively). Another important component of the network infrastructure is TURPAK X.25 connections. 

An “Application Server” which can be operated as Internet (WEB) Server has been located in front of the Data Warehouse Server in order to establish Intranet model on WAN. This Server will facilitate making authorization controls of users for Intranet accesses and simple queries by surveying fixed reports issued on Intranet. 

Local connections will be provided by Client/Server architecture in the Headquarters. Local users will be able to make detailed analyses on import and export data obtained from all customs offices throughout Turkey.
